The Abbey of Rosazzo

First-time visitors to the abbey are generally unable to withhold their amazement and spontaneously express their admiration and surprise over the environment, the panorama and the entire abbey complex.

It is in fact a real fortune for our area to have such a "privileged site" so close to hand. For those in search of prayer and contemplation, or for those in search of solace or advice from a friendly face, this welcoming, harmonious and relaxing atmosphere always has something to offer.

As we approach the warmer months the abbey has a number of extraordinary events to offer, such as The Dialogues of the Abbey, the Easter Concert, The Roses of Rosazzo and the solemn celebration of the Festival of St Peter, to whom the church is dedicated.

But even in its daily routine the abbey is always an open invitation of special interest.

Each Sunday at 6 pm holy mass is celebrated and always accompanied by liturgical chant. One hour earlier a priest is available for confession or for dialogue with whomever wishes it.

The church and the abbey are open each day from 9 am to 12 midday and 3 pm to 6 pm every day of the year. This means that they invite, receive and offer all that they are in silence and simplicity.

The Abbey of Rosazzo is located in the Colli Orientali (eastern hills) of Friuli in an isolated area to the northeast of Manzano (famous for the production of chairs), around twenty kilometres from Udine and ten kilometres from the Slovenian border. The origins of the over one thousand year old abbey are still not fully known. During this time and still today, in part thanks to its geographical location, the abbey has been a crossroads between east and west, a place where different cultures meet and exchange.
